The casting clip allows the angler to pinpoint hotspots with great accuracy time after time 16 Ball Bearings The Stratos is a ‘real’ powerhouse thanks to a sixteen, high quality stainless steel ball bearing roller race, plus one roller bearing. This generates huge ‘cranking’ potential and a silky smooth performance and makes the reel a pleasure to use with no hint of ‘slop’, ‘graunch’ or ‘grate’. The gearing mechanism has been fine tuned to give perfect meshing which undoubtedly aids a power retrieve which is critical when fishing in heavy situations like snag or weed. Line Lay If you want to cast the distance, line lay is critical. Stratos has a Supa-Slow Gear Cycle and nine turns of the handle are required for the spool to complete a full linear oscillation. In practice this means nearly twice as many coils of line are added to the spool in each cycle and each one is spaced closely and more precisely. Slipper Stealth Clutch Stratos utilises a Slipper Stealth Clutch, a multi disc system incorporated within the spool assembly itself, which is so smooth it needs to be experienced to be believed. To make the performance even more proficient, the clutch is mounted on its own arbour. Free Spool Operation The free spool system is operated in much the same way as most Baitrunners but the actual lever is pushed forward sitting neatly against the reel stem for casting, playing, etc and they pulled back towards the anger to disengage which is a more natural procedure than the opposite way round. There is also the advantage of not having a protruding lever whilst the reel is in normal operation. The free spool system has a nice neat adjustment knob that has a positive click to give an audible indication when tensioning the system. The spool has a quick release button, built inline clip and a micro multi disc adjustment front clutch. This is super smooth and copes adequately with both light line work as well as being able to lock up solid for snag fishing. The spool can also stay pre-adjusted even when removed which is very useful when switching from one breaking strain line to another. Spool Reducer A high specification Spool Reducer is supplied with every spool. The reducer clicks and locks securely to the spool and cannot move once in place. With the reducer in place there is no need to back the spool when using lower diameter line or braid. It halves the line capacity which allows for less of low diameter lines or when anglers are not fishing at long range making top ups a lot cheaper.
