Shakespeare Superteam 16m Competition Pole TO CLEAR
Shakespeare Superteam 16m Competition pole FREE DELIVERY Shakespeare has put itself firmly back in the big league with some great recent rod developments. Dave Harrell checks out the companys new match pole At a recent Shakespeare trade show, product development manager James Robbins gave me a guided tour of all the companys new products and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The rod range has come on in leaps and bounds over the past couple of years but until now Shakespeare has only concentrated on the cheaper end of the pole market. Now, as James explained, all that has changed. My brief was to develop a comprehensive range that would bring Shakespeare back into the pole market, so the team and I have worked hard on its development over the past 12 months, he told me. These poles have been designed to our specific requirements and I am delighted with the end results. The Superteam pole is fantastic at 14.5 metres, being both stiff and well balanced. Rob Middleton and I used prototypes during the poles development and found them to be robust and hard wearing. Shakespeare is proud of its record with spares and service and customers can be confident when buying Shakespeare poles. I have been very impressed with all of James development work to date and this pole is no exception. In two good workouts with it Ive caught carp up to 8lb and chub to just over 3lb, all of which were easy to handle on either top kit. The match kit is rated to No12 elastic while the power kit is rated to No20, and the wide-bore tips allow bushes to be fitted directly so theres no need to cut back. The smooth matt finish allows for easy shipping and the ground section joints reduce wear and sticking. Joint alignment arrows on the spine of the pole improve stiffness. The accurate length is 12.4 metres, so when used with the 60cm mini extension it is exactly 13 metres. This is important in Europe, and in some matches in the UK, where pole-length restrictions are in force. The power-top length is 2.5 metres, which Shakespeare considers to be the perfect length. The match top-three length is 3.1 metres, but remove the tip section and its the same length and tip diameter as the power tops. After all the good stuff Ive seen from Shakespeare over the past couple of years I was expecting something special with this new pole and I wasnt disappointed. For the price, and with the spares package that comes with it, its an absolute steal!
